Public sector jobs added by Matthew Lynn

According to figurss compiled by Sutherlands, 82% of net new jobs created last year were in the public sector. As the economy slows, they predict that figure will hit 100%. And Labour is fighting the election on its record on the economy....

More on Blair, Liar and Google added by Hugh Fraser
email | url
Yes it is remarkable that if you type 'liar' into Google, the first link to come up is our beloved PM's own page. 'Poodle' gets a similar result.
Blair has been the victim of what is known as a 'Google bomb.' If lots of webpages or blogs make links to his page with the text 'liar' then Google picks that up.
The association in the human consciousness seeps through into artificial intelligence.
Google Bombs are explained in this article on wikipedia.

We are not alone added by Steve Jay

If you are in need of some amusement, try typing the four-letter word starting with L that describes someone who is not always truthful into Google....at the top of the list comes the web page of a certain little loved PM. We are not alone...

Missing NI Funds added by Gordon Grey
Brown claims that National Insurance - his favourite stealth tax - is not a tax because it is spent on the NHS.
An odd idea in the first place, but we all know that some of the billions go Maxwell like into the general pot of the Treasury.
Now, conveniently for Brown, the auditor general says he can't make head or tail of the National Insurance Fund.
He says Department of Work and Pensions, 'were unable to provide all the evidence considered necessary to complete my audit of £6.7billion of expenditure on incapacity benefit'.

Petrol/taxation added by David Mahoney
email
I noticed this a.m. that Tesco has petrol at 89.5p per litre. That price is about 20% higher than 8 weeks ago .Shortly the price, driven by crude oil shortages, could rise to £1 per litre. There is no word from Prudence Brown who presumably ,not having correspondingly reduced the tax on fuel, is sitting hidden in his counting house with an Edinburgh sized grin looking at what he can give away before the Election!

GHOST CONSTITUENCY added by DAVID MAHONEY
email
I have just asked AOL weather to give me a weather forecast for SEDGEFIELD, the Prime Minister's (alleged) Constituency.Aol report that they have no record of this town!Does this mean that we are to have another Judge's report...as per that about the LABOUR fraud at the BIRMINGHAM local elections....to tell us that Tony Blair was 'elected' to a non existing Parliamentary Constituency?

budget nonsense added by Steve Dan
So, the lastest nonsense is that Big Gordon is going to ride to the rescue of a shambolic election campaign with another masterful, election-wining budget. Ho, ho, ho...what we'll get is a lot of boastful bluster, some fiddling to make your acoutant and nobody else richer, a few dozen pointless schemes, and, of course, no mention of the £10 billion in tax rises he's planning for after the election.
We've seen it all before....and we're not impressed anymore.
