"They put exclamation marks where there had been question marks and I think that is hyping, a spin, that leads the public to the wrong conclusions."

"Intelligence remains limited".

Joint Intelligence Committee, 9 September 2002, Quoted in Butler Report

“The wording of the 45-minute claim is rather strong since it is based on a single source. Could we say 'intelligence suggests'?"

17 September 2002, an email sent by a member of the Defence Intelligence Staff to the JIC assessment team quoted in the Butler Report

"I am aware, of course, that people will have to take elements of this on the good faith of our intelligence services, but this is what they are telling me, the British Prime Minister, and my senior colleagues."

"The intelligence picture that they paint is one accumulated over the last four years. It is extensive, detailed and authoritative."

"It concludes that Iraq has chemical and biological weapons, that Saddam has continued to produce them, that he has existing and active military plans for the use of chemical and biological weapons, which could be activated within 45 minutes, including against his own Shia population, and that he is actively trying to acquire nuclear weapons capability."

Tony Blair in the Commons on 24 September 2002

"The assessed intelligence has established beyond doubt that Saddam has continued to produce chemical and biological weapons".

"I am in no doubt that the threat is serious and current."

Tony Blair, signed forward to Dodgy Dossier, 24 September 2002

"*Iraq possesses extended range versions of the SCUD ballistic missile in breach of UNSCR 676 which are capable of reaching Cyprus, Eastern Turkey, Iran and Israel. It is also developing longer range ballistic missiles
* Iraq’s Current Military Planning specifically envisages the use of chemical and biological weapons
* Iraq’s military forces are able to use command control and logistical weapons arrangements in place. The Iraqi military are able to deploy these weapons within 45 minutes of a decision to do so."

Downing Street was forced to admit that its second dossier on Weapons of Mass Destruction had largely been copied and pasted from a PHD thesis off the internet. The true author, Dr al-Marashi expressed "surprise" at the lack of a credit for his work. The number 10 spinsters had copied Al Marashi's punctuation mistakes, but altered other parts to make it seem that Saddam Hussein had links with Al-Quaida.

Tony Blair presented the dossier to the House of Commons as the work of the intelligence services.
